Lubbock’s Auxiliary to Lubbock Professional Firefighters Association Local 972 was chartered in 1960 to create a support group for the family members of firefighters, and to assist the Association in their efforts to improve the firefighting profession. Many years later our goal is still the same. By promoting closer friendships within the department we are creating a family feeling that will carry us throughout our loved ones’ careers and beyond. The Auxiliary is open to the spouses, parents, children and siblings of active, retired, and deceased Lubbock Firefighters in good standing with the LPFFA.  We understand what it is like to live from shift to shift and know that fighting fires is not just a profession, but a passion that we support whole heartedly. The few, the proud, the brave, we stand beside you.

Auxiliary members participate in many activities throughout the year that not only support and promote the Association, but its firefighter families and the community in which we live. Some of the charitable organizations we have helped in the past and are currently helping are:  Children’s Burn Camp, Burn Unit at UMC, Meals on Wheels, Ronald McDonald House, MDA, Race for the Cure, Race for the Kids, Children’s Home of Lubbock, Share the Warmth Coat Drive, MDA Poker Run, Association sponsored Circus for MDA, and Women’s Protective Services. Members also participate in hospital visits and send cards to those who have been sick, ill, injured or in need of condolence. We also attend visitations & funerals and help with food for members in need. We, of course, celebrate the birth of future firefighters with baby showers, flowers, and of course lots of love. The Auxiliary accomplishes this goal by sponsorships, support of the Association, and an Annual Firefighters Appreciation Event. We have in the past delivered goodies to all the stations on Valentines Day, Halloween, and Christmas. We have hosted the monthly Association meetings with home cooked meals, Valentine Potluck Party, a Brisket Cook-off, an Easter Egg Hunt and yearly socials of all kinds. We attend and help serve the Rookie Graduation Reception as well as past participation in the Lubbock Area Fire Conference. We encourage you to check out ALPFFA and get involved.
